Employers and Farm Bureau members in Okanogan County are invited to a special “Get to Know Retro/Safety” meeting and free lunch on Monday, March 31, at the Elks Club in Omak.

The meeting begins at Noon at the Elks Club on Ash Street. Mike Fournier, Washington Farm Bureau director of Marketing, is the featured speaker. If interested in attending the meeting and free lunch, contact Mary K. Vejraska at (509) 826-3604 or Virginia Sheets at (509) 826-2217.

The Washington Farm Bureau Retro/Safety program features an incentive program that allows employers with good safety records to earn refunds on the workers’ compensation premiums they pay to the state Department of Labor and Industries. The program is focused on providing workplace safety and workers’ comp claims management services to its members. WFB Retro/Safety assists Farm Bureau members in implementing a safe and healthy workplace; helps ensure that its members are in compliance with state and federal regulations; and, serves as a liaison between L&I and members on industrial insurance claims.

How does it work? The Retrospective Rating State Industrial Insurance Plan is an incentive program that allows employers with good safety records to earn refunds on the
workers’ compensation premiums they pay to the state Department of Labor and Industries. The concept is simple: Businesses in a retro program can earn a partial refund of their workers’ comp premiums if they decrease the incidence of workplace injuries and have a better safety record.

There are two program offerings for Farm Bureau members – Farm Bureau Classic Retro/Safety for farm and ranch members and Farm Bureau Agribusiness Retro/Safety for those businesses providing ag-related products and services.
