If you’ve been hanging on to an Omak High School graduation cap and gown for sentiment’s sake, that gown could be put to use by a 2010 graduate.

It appears that a number of students slated for graduation this year will be unable to afford the cap, gown, tassel and stole, says class advisor Randy Smith. The full outfit totals around $60, including shipping and tax. A number of staff members have agreed to sponsor graduates, but unused, unwanted caps and gowns would still be welcome.

“If you are tired of having that cap and gown from years past hanging in the back closet, collecting dust, I would be willing to take them off your hands – or hangers,” said Smith. “I am starting a collection for use and reuse. These would be loaned to students for the ceremony, then gathered for when they are needed again.”

Only tassels and stoles would need to be replaced each year, he said.

Donated caps and gowns may be left at the Omak High School office. If you have questions, please call Smith at 826-8364.
