Ryleigh Ferrill scored 17 points as Liberty Bell held off Asotin 62-52 in the first round of the Class 2B girls state tournament on Wednesday.

The Mountain Lions (16-5) will face Toutle Lake in a quarterfinal game on Thursday. The Panthers (13-8) will meet Tacoma Baptist in a loser-out game.

Leading by as many as 13 early, Liberty Bell fended off an Asotin rally that saw the Panthers close to within 41-39 on a pair of free throws by Shelby Barnes early in the fourth quarter. Ferrill's three-point play launched an 11-2 Liberty Bell run that pushed the lead to 52-41.

Ferrill's breakaway layup to close the first quarter gave Liberty Bell a 19-12 edge. The lead ballooned to 35-22 on Shelby Scott's three-point play midway through the third quarter.

Barnes finished with 22 points for Asotin.
