300 Acre Fire Burning Near Brewster

State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Cold Springs Fire near the city of Brewster.  Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on June 13, 2015, at 16:45 pm at the request of Douglas/Okanogan County Fire District 15.

The fire started at approximately 10:00 am on June 13, 2015.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.  The fire has grown to an estimated 300 acres.  There is 1 residence, homesteads, and crops threatened by the fire.  No evacuation orders have been established. 

Mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau have ordered 24 engines, 4 water tenders, a bulldozer, a 20-person hand crew, two helicopters, a Type 3 Incident Management Team to supplement the resources already fighting the fire.

The State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at Camp Murray has been activated to Phase II, to coordinate state assistance for the Cold Springs Fire.  Personnel from the Office of the State Fire Marshal will be on scene to coordinate dispatch of resources, and other personnel will staff the State EOC.
