911 Service Outtage in Methow Valley

Landline telephone and 911 service is not working from the Carlton area north isolating the Upper Methow Valley including Twisp, Winthrop and Mazama. This outage is caused by a new break in the fiber optic cable in the Carlton Area.

If your wireless telephone service is not able to reach the 911 dispatch center in Okanogan the Twisp and Winthrop city halls are currently open and have radio communications with the 911 dispatch center to report an emergency.

The outage is expected to last into the evening of 8/4/2014 therefore an updated method of reaching 911 will be provided for after the city hall’s regular business hours.

Police, Fire and EMS personnel have radio communications with the 911 dispatch center.
