Mar 27, 2015

The North Central Washington Association of REALTORS® (“NCWAR”) has received a $75,000 grant from the REALTORS® Relief Foundation and $75,000 from the Washington Association of REALTORS®  to  provide rent  or  mortgage assistance  to  victims  of the Carlton Complex Fires.    The REALTORS® Relief Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing housing-related assistance to survivors of disasters declared at the federal, state or local levels of the US and its territories.  Thanks to the heartfelt generosity of REALTORS®, member Associations and many others, families in more than 40 disasters have been aided with over $25 million in emergency housing assistance.

Since 2001, when the REALTORS® Relief Foundation was created, the Washington Association of REALTORS® with 16,500 active members have donated over $288,000 to communities within Washington where natural disasters have impacted homeowners.   The Carlton Complex fires impacted hundreds of homeowners and this contribution will help many until they have the opportunity to rebuild their dream of home ownership.

“In the wake of the wildfires and their impact on our community, we just had to do something,” said Jerry Paine, 2015 President of NCWAR.  “REALTORS® have a long demonstrated history of supporting their communities in a variety of ways, and the generosity these organizations have shown toward those who lost their homes in the Carlton Complex Fires is more proof of that fact.  We thank them from the bottom of our hearts and will work hard to ensure anyone who lost their primary residence as a result of this disaster receives assistance.”  In total, the North Central Washington Association of REALTORS® has raised more than $179,000 to help with fire relief efforts.

Those who lost their primary residence to the Carlton Complex Fires are eligible to apply for a grant of up to $850 to assist in paying one month’s mortgage or rent.   Grant applications are available on the NCWAR website at  www.ncwar.com and must be submitted by before June 30th, 2015.  Completed grant applications can be sent to  christi@ncwar.com or mailed to the Association office at 610 N Mission St, Ste 208, Wenatchee, WA 98801.  The applications will be reviewed by the Executive Committee of NCWAR’s Board of Directors and recipients will be notified of approval.
