Driver inattention is being blamed for a one-vehicle rollover accident on SR155 about six miles south of Nespelem Thursday morning that claimed the life of a Bellingham man.

According to the Washington State Patrol, 44-year-old John M. Reynolds died at the scene. Reynolds, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was a passenger in the vehicle the State Patrol reported.

Three other passengers, all of whom were wearing their seatbelts, were also injured and transported to the Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee.

The driver, 52-year-old Brian S. Reynolds was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

The State Patrol says the group was traveling southbound on SR155 around 11:40 am Thursday, when the driver failed to negotiate a curve to the left. The 2003 Ford Expedition left the roadway to the right, the driver overcorrected and rolled the vehicle back onto the roadway coming to rest on its top.

Officials closed the roadway for several hours. Mark Peters with the Dept. of Transportation said they were able to reopen the roadway around 4:30 pm.
