COMMUNITY ACTION RECRUITING CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTORS

Community Action was recently notified by Okanogan County and the State of Washington Department of Commerce of approval of the application for $500,000 in funds to perform rehabilitation for low income homeowners in Okanogan County.

“An important component of Community Development is engaging our local contractors and vendors in the work we do” said Lael Duncan, Executive Director of Community Action. “Its vital to us to keep the dollars spent on renovation in the county -if possible” she continued. As a result, we are encouraging all licensed, bonded and insured contractors who wish to work with us on home improvement projects to call OCCAC (509 422-4041) for an application. All interested parties can also apply at OCCAC, 424 S 2nd Ave, Okanogan, WA 98840. Minority and Women’s business enterprises are encouraged to apply. A mandatory Contractors Meeting will be held on April 17^th at 2pm in the offices of OCCAC 424 2^nd Ave S, Okanogan.

In addition to the Rehabilitation work to be done in County, Community Action undertakes Weatherization work throughout the county. Contractors have the opportunity to register their interest in performing work on these projects through this same application process.

“The timing for this grant work and our annual Contractor List Update just happened to coincide this year. Contractors who fill out the basic application form can expect to be contacted and attend a meeting where our procedures are explained and questions about working with us are covered” said Duncan.
