Conservation District To Help with Recovery from Carlton Complex

Okanogan Conservation District is mobilizing to help landowners whose natural resources and agricultural infrastructure has been damaged by the Carlton Complex wildfires.  The District is acting as a clearinghouse for private landowners seeking assistance with issues such as restoration of grazing lands, repair of fences, repair of irrigation systems, restoration of riparian trees and shrubs, general reseeding, or erosion control.  In the forested areas, issues may also include removal or chipping of burned materials, erosion control and replanting.

At this time, there are limited funds available; however, the District is actively working with other natural resource and agriculture groups to locate additional sources of both technical and financial assistance for private landowners. Receiving specific descriptions from landowners about damages and natural resource concerns such as flooding and erosion will demonstrate what is required to respond to this disaster.
