An Okanogan County Sheriff's Deputy recovered a stolen Ford Ranger early this morning, just hours after it was reported missing.

Sheriff Frank Rogers said one of his deputies was called to a home on Robinson Canyon road about 2:00 AM Monday where the victim reported seeing two men steal his Ford Ranger from his driveway.

Rogers said at around 4:30 AM that same deputy was headed home when he spotted the stolen vehicle at the stop light on Hwy 97 and Engh Road. He said the vehicle drove onto Riverside Drive at which time they Deputy stopped it. Rogers said, "At first it appeared that the subjects were going to run but did not." He said the driver attempted to give several false names but eventually it was determined that it was 21-year-old Steven R. St Peter, of Omak. St Peter had multiple arrests warrants from several other jurisdictions, Rogers said.

St Peter was arrested for Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Owner's Permission and for all of the warrants. Also arrested was the passenger, 17-year-old Christopher W. Smith, of Riverside. Smith was booked into the Okanogan County Juvenile Center for Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Owner's Permission and MIP.

The vehicle was returned to the owner, undamaged.
