Drowning Victim’s Body Recovered

The body of an Omak man who went missing in the Okanogan River last month was located on Sunday about a quarter mile north of Legion Park in Okanogan.

Twenty-five year old Roy G. Herriman had gone swimming with another man in the river near Dunckel Trailer Court off the Omak Riverside Eastside Road on June 23^rd. The swift current swept him away and Herriman was last seen swimming south down the river. Law enforcement searched the river with boats and divers but were unable to locate Herriman.

Sheriff Frank Rogers said the body was located around 3 pm Sunday by Attorney Rodney Reinbold who was out on a small island with his dog.

Rogers said his body was located approximately 7 miles down the river from where he went in.

He said the family was notified last night.
