A 40-year-old Pateros man was arrested Tuesday morning, following a high speed chase that led to a crash.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said, Derin W. Darlington, of Pateros, was booked into the county jail on a felony warrant for second degree Assault and for Felony Eluding.

Rogers said, Deputy Shane Jones and Brewster Police Lieutenant Kelly Hook located Darlington in his vehicle around 8:15 A.M. near on Highway 97, near milepost 257.

He said when Jones turned on his lights, Darlington took off. The chase entered Brewster where Rogers said, Darlington "slowed down at Black Dog and dropped off two unknown female passengers barely coming to a complete stop."

Rogers said, Darlington continued southbound, at speeds ranging from 60 to 100 miles-per-hour.

The pursuit proceeded into Pateros and then turned north onto Hwy 153 towards Twisp. The Sheriff said at around milepost 5 Darlington turned onto an orchard road, driving through the orchard coming out on Bill Shaw Road. Darlington then turned onto French Creek Road and continued towards Burma Road.

As Darlington was heading down the hill towards Burma Road he lost control of his vehicle and then drove over a 30 foot embankment but came to a stop still on it's wheels.

Darlington was not injured in the crash.
