This is election filing week in Washington state.

Candidates for local, state and federal office are required to declare their intentions by the end of the day on Friday.

For county offices, they should contact the county Auditor’s office. The will have until 4:00 pm Friday to file. For statewide office and legislative districts that cross county boundaries, they should contact the Washington Secretary of State's office.

Candidates have until next Monday to withdraw their applications.

Candidates can file online, in person or by mail.

This year's primary is Aug. 6 and the general election is Nov. 5.

The offices open for election here in Okanogan County are:

Seventh District Senator, currently held by John Smith who was appointed early this year.

Three commissioners for Hospital District #1 and two Commissioners for Hospital District #4.

The position of Mayor and City or Town Council positions are open in the City of Brewster, Town of Conconully,  Coulee Dam, Elmer City, Nespelem, Okanogan, Omak, Oroville, Pateros, Tonasket and Winthrop.

Riverside and Twisp both have Council Positions on the ballot also.

Multiple School Districts also have board positions on the ballot including, Omak, Okanogan, Brewster, Nespelem, Curlew, Republic, Bridgeport, Pateros, Lake Chelan, Coulee Dam, Methow Valley, Tonasket and Oroville.

There are also numerous Cemetery and Fire District positions open throughout the county.
