Emergency Service Dept Offering Training

#1 - Okanogan County Flood/Fire Preparedness 2015 Meeting – Wednesday, May 27, 2015, from10 am till noon; Okanogan County Commissioner’s Hearing Room, 123 5^th Avenue N., Okanogan. The meeting is open to the public. Anyone with comments or concerns is encouraged to attend.

#2 - Weather Spotter Training at the Aero Methow Rescue Service Training Room, 1005 Hwy 20 E., Twisp on, Wednesday May 27, at 6 – 8 pm.

The National Weather Service in Spokane is seeking volunteers who would like to become weather spotters. Weather spotters provide 'on the spot’ weather reports -- which cannot be replaced by other means. Weather Spotter reports, coupled with radar, satellite, and other data, and has enabled the National Weather Service to issue more timely and accurate warnings and statements for flooding, winter weather and severe thunderstorms.

Those interested often include citizens, amateur radio operators, CERT and Citizen Corps personnel, law enforcement, fire, transportation and public works staff. Spotters are not required to have weather instrumentation, but it is helpful.
