FATALITY MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

Aug 11, 2016

A Tonasket woman was killed Wednesday night, when the motorcycle she was a passenger on struck a deer in the roadway.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said the woman, 45-year-old Tammy Clark, was pronounced dead at North Valley Hospital in Tonasket.  Her husband, 46-year-old Steven Clark of Tonasket, was airlifted to Sacred Heart in Spokane.

Rogers said the Clarks were westbound on the Chesaw Road just east of Molson Road about 7:30pm, when a deer ran out into the road. The Sheriff said, Steve Clark told them he was unable to avoid a collision with the deer and the impact sent the motorcycle out of control. Clark said he slid with the motorcycle for a number of feet and realized that his wife was no longer with him. Clark believed his wife had been ejected at the point of impact with the deer. Rogers said Steve Clark was able to crawl to his wife and waited for help.

The Sheriff said both of the Clarks were wearing helmets and no alcohol or drugs were involved. Family members have been notified.
