Fire Claims Man's Life

One person and one dog died Monday, in an early morning apartment fire on Ash Street, across from Gene’s Harvest Foods in Omak.

Omak Fire Chief Kevin Bowling said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire crews were called to the fire at 4:06 a.m. this morning and found the front of the building fully involved.

Firefighters assisted residents that were exiting the building and had to rescue two more from a roof on the back of the building.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

Bowling said the dog that died had been chained up on the front porch and couldn’t get away from the fire.
