Forest Roads West of Conconully Temporarily Closed for Repair

Jul 27, 2013

Forest road 3800, west of Conconully Washington, will be closed for repair work August 5th through August 16th.

3800 is the main road traveling west to National Forest land from Conconully; it accesses Salmon Meadows Campground.  The road will be closed to westbound traffic at Kerr Campground. Salmon Meadows Campground will be accessible via Forest Road 39, over Lone Frank Pass. Signs will be in place at the intersection of Forest Road 3900 with 3820 to warn travelers of the closure about 11 miles ahead at the construction site.

After work is finished on Forest Road 3800, it will be reopened and a separate closure will be put in place on Forest Road 3800-025, the Ray Road, leading to the Muckamuck Trailhead.  This closure will allow for road repair, where Dunn Creek crosses the road at milepost 6.6.

“This is the peak of summer and we understand that these closures will be an inconvenience to many people,” said Dave Colbert, Road Manager.  “We are committed to getting the work done as efficiently as possible in order to reopen access to these popular recreation areas.”

The funding for these road repairs comes from the Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads Program which provides assistance to Federal land management agencies for the repair of facilities damaged by natural disasters or catastrophic failures.  These and other roads across the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest were damaged during the spring rains in 2011.

Forest road information is updated regularly and is available online atwww.fs.usda.gov/goto/okawen/conditions or by calling the Tonasket Ranger District at 509-486-2186.
