Free financial advice to be offered Tuesday in Pateros

Mar 30, 2015

Randall Lowell, compliance and program director for Parkview Services, a Washington-based nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and communities access affordable housing solutions, will offer a free seminar for individuals who experienced property losses as a result of last year’s fires and flood.

“Our primary purpose will be to assist individuals with mortgage and credit-related notices and helping them to complete a loan modification application,” Lowell said. “There are new laws in effect that allow anyone to apply for a loan modification and other assistance, with or without a mortgage default. We will also discuss insurance and other issues related to property loss, including how to report and file complaints against insurance companies, mortgage and credit card companies, and fair housing, fair credit reporting, and fair debt collection agencies.

“We’ll also give an overview regarding pitfalls and cautions when buying in an out-of-designated fire and flood districts. Basically, anyone who owes money on a home or property should attend. We’ve heard of many unresolved concerns from people impacted by the fires—job changes; lack of sufficient housing; road access destroyed; insufficient insurance; no insurance; inability to get new insurance, and many more. We’ll try to cover as many as we have time for.”

Lowell will be joined by two additional Parkview Services advisors, Diego Herrera, certified housing counselor, and Anthony Conrad, IT and technology coordinator.

The meeting will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Pateros High School Library, 344 Beach St, Pateros, WA. For more information, contact Carlene Anders, 509-733-0318. The meeting is sponsored by the Carlton Complex Long Term Recovery Group (CCLTRG), working to help residents recover from last year’s devastating wildfires.
