A 15-year-old Pateros boy was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he admitted to stealing two vehicles in the same day.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said Deputy Shane Jones responded to the Post Office in Pateros around 1:15 pm to investigate a complaint that a 2002 Toyota Rav4 had been stolen. Jones got the information at the scene and then began to check the area for the vehicle. Rogers said, "As he was talking with dispatch Deputy Jones drove up behind the stolen vehicle traveling on Hwy 97, still in Pateros."

After a brief chase the teen stopped, jumped from the car and ran. Jones was able to eventually chase down the suspect and arrest him near a residence on Warrant Avenue.

Rogers said, While Deputy Jones was interviewing the juvenile another report of a stolen vehicle came in. The victim was reporting that his 2005 Toyota pickup had been stolen from CFN gas pumps in Pateros.

The Sherriff said the teen admitted to stealing both vehicles. Both of the vehicles were recovered and neither was damaged.

The teen was booked into the Okanogan Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Obstructing a Public Servant, and No Valid Operators License.
