A 15-year-old male escaped the Okanogan County Juvenile Detention Center Sunday after overpowering a female guard.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said dispatch received the report around 1:30pm. Rogers said, the juvenile, Johnny M. Delossantos, of Pateros choked the guard and threatened to kill her. Delossantos was arrested on July 10, 2012 in Pateros after he stole two vehicles in the Pateros on the same day.

Rogers said, Delossantos was able to get out of the Juvenile Secure area, over power the Officer and then left the Center by the back door. The Sheriff said, he also stole the Juvenile Officers purse when he left the building. Deputies began searching the area but were unable to locate him.

At around 3:15 PM Sunday, Deputy Tait Everett and K9 Ayk were headed home when Deputy Everett spotted Delossantos standing along Hwy 97 just below Wal-Mart, talking to another subject.

Rogers said, Delossantos took off running and ran up the hill towards Wal-Mart and then over to West River Road, with Deputy Everett and K9 in foot pursuit. Two other deputies responded and were able to secure the area. A short time later he was spotted running to a residence on West River Road. Rogers said, deputies converged on the residence and located the Delossantos who was still hiding under the back of the deck area.

Delossantos arrested and transported back to Juvenile where he was booked on charges of First Degree Assault and Escape. He said other possible charges are pending.
