McCullough New Superintendent for Tonakset Schools

Mar 12, 2015

The Tonasket School Board on Wednesday decided to offer the superintendent position to Steve McCullough, the current Curlew School District Superintendent.

In a release from the district this morning, they said, after a lengthy review process, the board chose to offer the position to McCullough, which he accepted.

The board had interviewed McCullough and Desiree Gould of Pullman during meetings this week.

The Consultant hired by the district to help with the search said both candidates were highly qualified for the position and he was surprised by the large community interest.

In their release, the district said, “We are looking forward to welcoming Steve to our district.” It went on to say, “We would like to thank the staff, community, and students who participated in the process who offered valuable insight on the candidates.”

Thirteen candidates applied for the position, but one dropped out because of another opportunity in Western Washington.

The School Board began looking for a new superintendent after it decided in November not to renew current Superintendent Paul Turner’s contract.
