Mud, trees and rocks came crashing down on Highway 20 about 10 miles west of Okanogan Monday night, causing both lanes to be blocked for several hours.
Okanogan County Emergency Manager Maurice Goodall reported that the highway was completely blocked around 8:45pm Monday. WSDOT crews worked through the night to get the roadway reopened.
Goodall reported that one lane was opened shortly after midnight with both lanes opening up just before 1:00am this morning.
Recent heavy rains in the area have made some slopes unstable, and Goodall reminds residents to watch for similar activity throughout the county.
