Okanogan Conservation District Ready to Help with Recovery from 2015 Wildfires

Aug 31, 2015

Okanogan Conservation District is mobilizing to help landowners whose natural resources and/or agricultural infrastructure has been damaged by the 2015 wildfires in Okanogan County.  Okanogan CD is acting as a clearinghouse for private landowners seeking assistance with issues such as restoration of grazing and forest lands, repair of fences, repair of irrigation systems, restoration of riparian trees and shrubs, general reseeding, or erosion control.

Landowners should contact Okanogan CD regarding natural resource and agricultural damages, and concerns such as flooding and erosion. Staff will provide free technical assistance, and, if requested, site visits to affected properties to evaluate damages and risks. Landowners may also be referred to other cooperating agencies and organizations that can best address their needs.

Okanogan CD is actively working with other natural resource and agriculture groups to locate and provide technical and financial assistance for private landowners impacted by the fires. Detailed information from landowners about fire impacts will demonstrate what is required to respond to this disaster as staff seek additional financial support for recovery actions.

Landowners can contact the Okanogan Conservation District at the following locations to communicate their natural resource and agricultural infrastructure damage and restoration needs:
