Okanogan County Not Delaying Property Tax Deadline

Apr 02, 2020

Okanogan County taxpayers will not be seeing any relief from property taxes that are due the end of April.  On Thursday Leah McCormack, Okanogan County Treasurer, sent out a notice that taxpayers 2020 1st half property taxes and irrigation assessments are due and must be postmarked by Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Multiple counties announced this week that they would be postponing the deadlines for property taxes as residents have been laid off and the economy has come to a screeching halt amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

In announcing there will be no delay for Okanogan County taxpayers, McCormack said “Okanogan County is not a large County in revenue resources, and for that reason there are too many Districts that rely on levied taxes to survive such as Hospitals, Schools, Fire Districts to name just a few.”

The Treasurer’s office said Interest and penalties will start accruing on Friday, May 1, 2020.

You have several options for payments:

 - Mail check or money order to:  Okanogan County Treasurer, PO Box 111, Okanogan, WA  98840. This must be post marked by April 30, 2020.

 - Use the Billpayer service through your Bank

 - Pay by credit/debit card, go to: www.okanogancounty.org/Treasurer or call 1-877-737-4772 or for customer service call 1-888-891-6064 and choose option 1.  There will be a small convenience fee applied to your credit card payment for this service.  They do not accept credit/debit cards in the office.

 - There is a Drop Box set up just outside the Treasurer’s office in the Courthouse for your payments as a convenience because currently the Treasurer’s office is closed to the Public due to the COVID-19 outbreak. They say, “Please do not put Cash transactions in the Drop Box.”

Mc Cormack said, “I appreciate everyone’s patient and understanding as we work through this very difficult process.”
