Okanogan Couple Injured in Motorcycle Versus Deer Collision

Jun 24, 2013

An Okanogan couple was injured Saturday in a deer versus motorcycle collision on the Conconully Highway outside of Omak.

The driver, 66-year-old Raymond W. Roberts, of Okanogan suffered a possible broken left leg and his wife, 61-year-old Mabel A. Roberts, sustained a possible broken left ankle.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said deputies were dispatched to the scene around 2:30pm Saturday. He said the motorcycle had been northbound on Conconully Highway when a deer jumped out in front of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle.  The deer was killed on impact.

The motorcycle sustained very little damage.

Rogers said, “A lot of credit to Mr. Roberts who was able to keep the motorcycle upright and after hitting the deer was able to pull the motorcycle off the roadway and stop.”
