A 19-year-old Okanogan man is in jail this morning, following a botched burglary at the Farm Shed in Okanogan.

Early Sunday morning, the Sheriff’s office received a call of an alarm business in south Okanogan.

As officers arrived and entered the building they saw Dylan James Thomas Counts inside the store. Counts ran to the front of the store and out the front glass door had been broken. He ran south on 2nd Avenue with a Deputy in foot pursuit. Sheriff Frank Rogers said Counts, who was carrying a back pack during the chase, dropped it and continued to run south on 2nd Avenue and then turned east onto Conconully Street.

Rogers said As he was on Conconully Street, Counts fell and was caught and taken into custody.

Counts was booked into the Okanogan County Jail on charges of Burglary and Theft. The Sheriff said “Counts is extremely well known by law enforcement.”

Rogers said, It appears that Counts had thrown a rock through the front glass door and entered the building that way. He has allegedly stolen jewelry that was found on the route he ran and also in his possession. Rogers said He had also stolen knives and other items from the store with a value of approximately $1100. All of the items were recovered. He also caused approximately $400 in damages to the door and glass cases inside the building.
