Omak community loses long-time teacher

Press Release

May 05, 2015

We are saddened to announce the passing of long-time Omak Middle School teacher Bryan Behymer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, and to the colleagues and students affected by this loss.

After an extended illness, Bryan chose to end his life on Saturday, May 2. In a situation like this, there are more questions than answers. The school district will respect the wishes of the family by not sharing anything more about his death.

Bryan taught social studies in the Omak Middle School for 26 years. He is respected and well known by many throughout the community as well as within the school.

Grief counselors will be on-hand for both staff and students beginning Monday, May 4, and will continue as needed. Counselors are coming from neighboring districts and other agencies to assist in this time of sadness.

Other resources regarding suicide and its prevention and response are being made available to staff, students and parents.

The district will host an information meeting for parents on Tuesday, May 5, at 6 p.m. in the Omak Middle School library. We hope to be able to share details about funeral arrangements then, along with other related issues.
