The Omak High School has a new assistant principal for the 2015-2016 school year.

Guinevere Joyce joins the staff, coming from Chimacum District near Sequim, Wash. She has a background in physical education, and also managed the school’s Focus program, an online learning program for at-risk students.

Joyce, 43, originally from Lynnwood, used to come through Omak at least once a year to go to her grandma’s cabin in Havillah. Later, she has taken her three kids on the same route, or visited her husband’s sister in Riverside.

She and her husband will celebrate their 25th anniversary and 25th class reunion this year, as they are high school sweethearts.

Joyce said she is looking forward to more sun and snow on this side of the mountains, and working with the community and staff team at Omak.

She replaces Joanne Warren, who resigned. Wayne Barrett, a current CTE instructor, will take over duties from Warren for Highlands High School principal, as well as CTE director in the upcoming school year.
