A 21-year-old Omak man was sentenced Thursday to nine years in federal prison for two domestic violence related crimes on the Colville Reservation.

Daniel Quilochin Fry earlier had pleaded guilty to Assault With a Dangerous Weapon and Maiming. According to a release from the US Attorney's Office, Fry severely beat the 17-year-old victim over a two day period in April 2010, using a baseball bat, propane tank and other objects. The release Fry continued to abuse the victim over a five-month period and threatened to kill her.

Michael Ormsby, the US Attorney for Eastern Washington said, "Domestic violence is a serious problem nationwide, but is even more pronounced on Indian Reservations where women suffer a disproportionate amount of violence." He said, "The physical and emotional scars of domestic violence affect the victims for years."

Ormsby said, "This case was particularly egregious because the abuse started when the victim was 17-years-old and because the protracted assaultive behavior went on for five months."

Ormsby said his office is committed to reducing domestic violence through "aggressive prosecution."

Fry will serve 108 months in prison to be followed by 36 months of court supervision following his release from custody.
