Omak PD Nab Vandal for Tagging Buildings

Quick work by Omak Police nabbed a vandal within hours of finding graffiti on downtown buildings Friday morning.

Omak Police Chief Jeff Koplin said the red graffiti had been reported on the back of Carlton Insurance, Indoor Tropics, and a building belonging to Kristen Little of Grandma’s Attic.

He said the damage had been caused overnight. 

Within a few hours Detective Marcos Ruiz and Officer Vernon Reyes had identified, located and arrested 18-year-old Derrick Mccraigie of Omak. Koplin said, Mccraigie admitted to causing the damage to the buildings after being interviewed by Officers.

The Chief said, Detective Ruiz and Officer Reyes “did a great job on the investigation.”

Koplin added that as of this spring Omak Police Department has started performing emphasis patrols in the downtown area of Omak.  He said, Officers will be patrolling on foot, on bicycles, and from patrol cars. 

Koplin said, “Omak Police Department is dedicated to keeping our city beautiful and crime free.”
