The Omak School District has several summer projects planned, from carpet replacement to asphalt work.

At North Elementary, the old hallway carpet has been torn up, to be replaced with a rubber tile flooring called Mondo. Walk-off carpets will be installed at all entrances. This will not only look better, but improve the cleanliness and air quality in the building. This should be complete by June 23.

The old bus loops at both North and East Elementary are also being torn out and replaced with a new four inches of asphalt. The current loops are broken down and becoming a safety hazard and are beyond the ability to patch. These should be finished about June 26.

Over at the pre-school portables, the sidewalk is being replaced to get up to ADA requirements and eliminate tripping hazards. This should be done by June 23.

The Middle School’s seven various-tiered roof sections are being replaced with a membrane roof, due to the aging of the roofing currently in place. Large cracks have formed in some areas, including the Performing Arts Center roof. This project should be complete around July 24.

The PAC itself is getting new carpeting due to age and safety in both the foyer and the auditorium. Walk-off carpet will again be installed at entrances to enhance cleanliness. This project is slated for June 29-July 10.

The High School has already had its winches replaced, that raise the basketball backboards with an electric system by remote control.

The High School wrestling room will have its 30-year-old pads replaced for safety and health reasons in August.

These projects are covered by levy funds, as part of the regular maintenance budget for the district.
