Omak Schools Holding Curriculum Nights

Sep 08, 2015

The Omak School District will have multiple opportunities for families to tour buildings and get information on the curriculum their students will study this year.

First up, the Middle School will host its Open House on Monday, Sept. 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The evening will begin in Stevens Gym with an introduction and welcome. Parents can then go to the students’ various classes and hear from the teachers about what students are learning and how to help with student success.

After teacher presentations, there will be meet and greet time.

Next, East Elementary will hold its Family Curriculum Night on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 5:30-7 p.m.

Everyone can get a meal for $1 at East for the evening, and then have several other things to do.

The schedule will include an introduction to the new “Leader In Me” program, which the school is implementing to encourage students to take leadership roles in accordance with their skills and passions.

Students will also share their “data notebooks,” in which they set personal goals and ways to achieve it and document success.

Families can also check out some new technology the school is featuring, such as a robotics lab.

The Book Fair will also be taking place in the library during curriculum night at East.

Over at North, Family Curriculum Night will be on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 6-7 p.m. This is a chance for parents to see their children’s classrooms and other areas of the school. They can also meet with other families and staff.

Families can view curriculum and see what students are learning, and view the Imagine Learning reading software new to the school this year to help students gain reading skills.
