Omak schools scrubbing the air

Aug 26, 2015

In light of the poor air quality we are experiencing now and possibly well into the future, the Omak School District is taking measures to make sure the air is clean in its schools.

JRCC Restoration, Moses Lake, is supplying the district with “air scrubbers,” carbon filters to take the smoke and smells out of the air in the buildings. The scrubbers are installed in entrances to minimize what is brought in. Seven are currently in place with at least that many on their way.

The district is further working with air quality specialists to monitor what additional measures can be taken to minimize the impact on students and staff.

The scrubbers will be in place by the time school begins on Sept. 2. Currently, the district is maintaining its original schedule, although any outdoor activities will be moved indoors until the air is healthier.
