Sheriff's Deputies arrested 50-year-old Lisa M. Smith of Omak Wednesday on six counts of Animal Cruelty in First Degree and five counts of Animal Cruelty in the Second Degree.

Smith is the owner of the animals that deputies found dead from neglect. Several other animals were confiscated at the scene after a veterinarian advised authorities that they were in poor health and severely underweight.

Authorities found the animals when they went to Smith's property at 247 Greenacres Road to assist the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in the serving of a search warrant in a poaching case.

Smith was book into the Okanogan County Jail on Wednesday night and according to the booking log, posted a cash bail the following day.

First degree animal cruelty is a class C felony, while second degree animal cruelty is a gross misdemeanor.
