PIPE BOMB FOUND NEAR FANCHER LAKE

Someone left a pipe bomb wedged between two rocks at the edge of Fancher Lake near Tonasket. Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said a citizen reported finding the bomb around 9pm Wednesday.

Rogers said, The bomb was approximately 6 inches long galvanized pipe with the end capes glued and a fuse in the middle of the pipe. He said, "The device appeared to have been recently left at the location."

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office explosive team was called and was expected to arrive around noon Thursday to dispose of the device. Deputies remained at the scene all night and were going to remain on scene until the explosives team arrived.
