A spokesman for the Okanogan Public Utility District says power has been restored in Winthrop and Twisp.

The north central Washington towns lost power Monday when a wildfire brought down a transmission line. A spokesman said 200 customers remained out of service Tuesday morning in the Pleasant Valley community at Malott.

The fire that broke out Monday afternoon was pushed by winds through about three square miles of dry brush. It burned several utility poles and two outbuildings. About 150 firefighters from local and state agencies worked to contain it.

Okanogan Sheriff Frank Rogers told The Wenatchee World ( http://bit.ly/12tMuDP) the fire may have been started by a mower.

At least two homes were evacuated until the fire passed, and about 50 residents were warned to prepare to evacuate.
