Stage 1 burn ban called in Okanogan County

By NCBI
Feb 01, 2013

A Stage 1 burn ban has been called beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday in Okanogan County due to forecasted cold temperatures and calm winds causing air pollution to increase, according to the Washington Department of Ecology.

The ban on outdoor fires and burning in uncertified woodstoves or fireplaces will continue until 10 a.m. on Monday, unless extended. Residents can keep tabs on burn bans at www.waburnbans.net.

Ecology's burn bans don't apply on tribal reservations, where the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has jurisdiction.
