A Stage 1 burn ban has been extended until 10 a.m. Tuesday in Okanogan County, as air quality is unlikely to improve very much today, particularly in Omak and the Methow Valley, according to the Washington Department of Ecology.

All outdoor fires and burning in uncertified woodstoves or fireplaces is banned. Residents can keep tabs on burn bans at www.waburnbans.net.

Ecology's burn bans don't apply on tribal reservations, where the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has jurisdiction
