Stokes Road Complex Fire Grows, More Evacuations Ordered

Jul 16, 2014

The Stokes Road fire burning off of the Texas Creek Road south of Carlton was 1500 acres in size as of last night.  That fire, is the largest of four being managed under the Stokes Road Complex.  The other fires, the French Creek at 80 acres, Cougar Flat at 30 acres and the Golden Hike also at 30 acres.

Jacob McCann, information officer for the complex, said the level 3 evacuations that were ordered Tuesday for the homes along the Texas Creek Road from .8 miles to 3.2 miles up the road remain in effect.  He said they did add level 3 evacuations for the west side of the Gold Creek Loop Road in the area of the Golden Hike fire this morning.

McCann said a type 2 incident command team will be taking over management of the complex at noon today, following the state mobilization that was authorized last night.

The complex remains at 0% containment this morning.

Texas Creek Road is closed. Base Camp has been set up at Liberty Bell High School. Travelers should use caution when travelling through the area as emergency vehicles will be present.
