Teens Cited for Minor in Possession During Emphasis Patrol

Oct 15, 2014

In a continuing effort to strictly enforce underage drinking laws, the Omak Police conducted emphasis patrols over the weekend.  During one of the patrols Saturday night, a 16-year-old male and 15-year-old male were both cited for Minor in Possession after police smelled alcohol on their breath.  Other signs of alcohol intoxication officers look for are: glossy eyes, slurred speech, and/or loss of balance. These juveniles now face fines, juvenile detention, and loss of their driver’s license.

Emphasis patrols will be continuing and Omak Police urge you to call 911 if you witness or suspect someone of stealing alcohol, providing alcohol to minors, or providing a place for them to consume it.  A reminder, those found to be providing alcohol to minors “under 21” face a $5000 fine and up to a year in jail.
