Temporary Fix on Pearrygin Creek Road

Hunters and fall recreationists will be happy to hear that the Pearrygin Creek Road (1631-100) has been re-opened past the shooting range and up to Ramsey Creek. This popular route was closed in 2011 by a debris flow in Pearrygin Creek.

"We were able to do a temporary repair last summer to allow for hunter access, but that repair washed out again this spring and the road has been closed," said Michael Liu, Methow Valley District Ranger.

The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has been waiting for funding through Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads (ERFO). That funding and the completion of analysis under the National Environmental Policy act are necessary before a permanent solution can be put in place. The Forest expects to be able to do the reconstruction work in 2013.

In the interim, the Forest road crew has put another temporary fix in place that will allow for access to this popular road system during general rifle season. They have put in a temporary low water ford, suitable for vehicles with high ground clearance.

Temporary road closures associated with the Okanogan Complex Fires remain in place on the Middle Fork Gold Creek Road (FS4340-100) and on Forest Service road 4330-100.

There are many seasonal closures implemented beginning October 1st and Forest visitors are encouraged check the Travel Plan map when planning any outings. Free copies of the Travel Plan map are available at Forest Offices in Okanogan, Tonasket and Winthrop as well as online at www.fs.usda.gov/main/okawen/maps-pubs under "Methow Valley and Tonasket Ranger District Travel Plan Maps".
