Timm Ranch Fire Nearly Contained

Jun 09, 2016

Crews were able to get a good jump on a lightning sparked fire in the Kartar Valley on the Colville Reservation Wednesday afternoon. The fire, called the Timm Ranch is estimated at 500 acres in size and is 75 percent contained this morning. Fire officials say it is burning in mostly tall grass near the Columbia River.

The fire is believed to have been sparked by lightning from a series of Thunderstorms that moved through Eastern Washington around noon on Wednesday.  Engine crews from District 8 as well as the Mt Tolman Fire Center were tackling the blaze early on, with support from a fixed wing aircraft, however with the high winds, the plane had to return to base, but two DNR helicopters were brought in for air support.

There are 28 personnel still assigned to the fire this morning and officals have estimated they will have it fully contained by this afternoon.
