A Tonasket High School / Middle School librarian was fired after being arrested for having sex with an 18-year-old student.

Elizabeth A. Kinkade, 37, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree sexual misconduct, and released without bail after a preliminary hearing in Okanogan County Superior Court.

The Tonasket School Board met Wednesday and unanimously voted to fire Kinkade.

Tonasket Police said they are confident there are no other students victims, and that the alleged sexual misconduct did not occur on school property.

Police learned about the accusation on Tuesday, when Kinkade called the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office to report her husband had just fired a gun outside their home.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said Kinkade told deputies that she had just told her husband she was having an affair.

Rogers said the gun was not fired at the house, and Kinkade’s husband did not threaten her, but that he was arrested for unlawfully discharging a weapon close to other homes.

The Sheriff said while deputies were there, the school superintendent arrived and told them the affair was with a student.
