Tonasket woman killed in accident south of Oroville Tuesday

A 47-year-old Tonasket woman was killed Tuesday afternoon when the vehicle she was riding in was struck on Highway 97 about seven miles south of Oroville.

According to the Washington State Patrol report, Anselma Cervantes, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, died at the scene. She was a passenger in a car driven by 21-year-old Yazmin Cervantes Orozco, of Tonasket. She was transported by ambulance to North Valley Hospital with unspecified injuries.

The State Patrol says Cervantes Orozco’s car was southbound on the highway, making a left turn onto a private driveway when it collided with a northbound pickup driven by 19-year-old Steven L. Maupin, of Oroville. Maupin and his passenger, 16-year-old Wyatt E. Radke of Tonasket were  also treated at North Valley Hospital.

The accident , which happened at 3:15 p.m., caused the closure of the highway for several hours.
