Twisp Man Killed in Crash Near Washington Pass

A Twisp man died and his wife was injured Wednesday morning when their pickup crashed through a guardrail and rolled down a steep bank near Washington Pass on Highway 20.

According to the Washington State Patrol report, 65-year-oold Dennis L. Dammann died at the scene.

His wife, 65-year-old Bonnie J. Dammann, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A hospital spokesperson said she is in satisfactory condition this morning.

The State Patrol report said Dennis Dammann was driving a 2012 Ford F350 pickup truck westbound at 9:38 a.m. about 28 miles west of Winthrop. The report said, the pickup crossed the centerline, broke through the guardrail on the eastbound shoulder rolled and came to rest down the embankment.

Crews from Okanogan County Fire District 6, Aero Methow Resecue, the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office and Life Flight Air Ambulance responded. Several of the crew members are also a part of the Search and Rescue High Angle Team.

The State Patrol say Bonnie Dammann was wearing a seatbelt, but it is unknown whether Dennis Dammann was wearing one.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
