War Creek Road Temporarily Closed for Repair

Aug 21, 2013

Upper War Creek road will be temporarily closed for repairs beginning August 26, 2013.  The road, west of Twisp, Washington was damaged during the spring rains in 2011.

War Creek road, 4430-100 will be closed from its intersection with Forest Road 4430 to the War Creek Trailhead.

“There are several trailheads up the Twisp River Drainage,” said Laurie Dowie, Wilderness Specialist for the Methow Valley Ranger District.  “War Creek connects the Twisp River to Stehekin on Lake Chelan.  The trail from War Creek crosses portions of the Lake Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness and the North Cascades National Park.  “We will work with the contractor to get the road repair finished as quickly as possible, but people planning trips in that area between mid-august and late September should plan alternate routes.”

Forest road information is updated regularly and is available online at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/okawen/conditions or by calling the Methow Valley Ranger District at 509-996-4000.
