West Nile Suspected in Okanogan County

UPDATED: Testing has now confirmed that the Okanogan County resident does indeed have West Nile Virus from exposure to infected mosquitoes here in the county. 

So far this year in Washington: 

2017 West Nile Virus Activity in Washington

Humans: 12 (7 in-state acquired and 5 out-of-state acquired)

Horses: 9

Birds: 4

Mosquito Samples: 34

 

Okanogan County Public Health is investigating a suspected case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in an Okanogan County resident.  Confirmatory testing is being conducted, and if testing confirms WNV, this information will be posted on the Washington State Department of Health website at: https://www.doh.wa.gov/YouandYourFamily/IllnessandDisease/WestNileVirus

As a reminder, WNV has been circulating in Eastern Washington this year.
