Lynden Man Killed Tuesday in Crash West of Winthrop

Aug 26, 2015

A 22-year-old Lynden man was killed Tuesday afternoon when his car went off Highway 20 and over an embankment about 32 miles west of Winthrop.

The Washington State Patrol reports says Sahir F. Lugoavalos, was westbound at 2:49 p.m. when his car entered a curve at a high rate of speed, went off the highway and traveled down a steep, rocky embankment, before coming to rest among a group of trees.

The State Patrol says, Lugoavalos, who was wearing his seatbelt, died in the crash.

The WSP says speed too fast for conditions was the cause of the accident.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
