Newhouse Assigned to Appropriations Committee

Press Release

Jan 23, 2019

Today, Representative Dan Newhouse (R-WA) announced that he has been nominated by the House Republican Steering Committee to serve on the influential House Appropriations Committee in the 116th Congress. The House Appropriations Committee is designated as an exclusive committee, with members limited to serving on the panel and generally not assigned to serve on additional committees.

“I am grateful to continue to serve on the powerful Appropriations Committee, which allows me to advocate for Central Washington on any issue related to federal discretionary spending,” said Rep. Newhouse. “I will continue to be a strong voice on behalf of Pacific Northwest agriculture and fulfilling the federal government’s legal and moral obligation to finish cleaning up Hanford, which are top priorities for Central Washington. Divided government should not mean dysfunctional government: I look forward to working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to put taxpayers first when fulfilling our constitutional power of the purse.”

The House Appropriations Committee exercises jurisdiction over all federal discretionary spending.
