PCT & Harts Pass Re-open

Aug 18, 2015

The Pacific Crest Trail and Harts Pass have been re-opened. Most of the
fires started by lightning on the Methow Valley Ranger District have been contained, controlled
or are out.

The two larger fires, Black Canyon and McFarland Creek are being managed under the Chelan
Complex. Information about the fires on the Chelan Complex is available at
http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4538/

The smoke visible to the east is likely from the fires burning on the Okanogan Complex.
Information about those fires is available at http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4534/
.
The status of the remaining fires on the Methow Valley Ranger District is as follows:

• There is a new start about two miles west of Silver Star Mountain. Firefighters are in
route.

• Bear Mountain Fire, 12 miles northeast of Twisp, north of the Loop Loop ski area is controlled
and two engines are working to mop-up.

• Tatie Peak Fire about 20 miles northwest of Mazama has been contained at about 100 acres.
Four smokejumpers will continue to mop-up and monitor the fire through the cold dry front that
is predicted to bring gusty winds into the area on Thursday. The fire is in steep, rugged terrain
and its spread was slowed by the moisture that came through the area over the weekend.

• Resources demobilized from the Devils Dome Fire today.

• Action 675 in the Twisp River drainage is controlled, two firefighters are mopping up hot spots.

• Action 684 is out.
